Time management has been numerously
discussed by various scholars but the exigency for effective time management
has not decreased but rather increase in a supersonic rate, every human is in
dire need of ways to free their mind from the problem of no time or I don’t
know what to do with my time, as one of the things that should be put in mind
when harnessing both human and non-human resources is how to manage them as
they are known to be time-bound.
Going down the archival realm of literature, peter drucker defined time as the most scarce resource of
the manager which if it is not well-managed, nothing else could be managed,
this definition has substantially state the magnitude of relativity of time to
the manager, though, you might be left in awe of thinking you are neither a
businessman nor manager but as a manager is a person that coordinates, so you
are one,you are a manager, since you mingle with friends both at home and abroad
since you use services and render one whether directly or indirectly, you are a
manager as you bound by the time factor.
If
our time is not well-managed, nothing would be managed and overtime, it has
been inferred that a man that failed to plan is planning to fail and those that
plan to fail are planning to go into extinction, the consequence of poor time
management ranges from abject poverty to everlasting regret amidst others, but
how can man conquer his lackadaisical attitude towards time is the question
that led to the evolution of this piece.
Various luminaries in the literary world have worked on effective time
management and other topics that is related to time and how to achieve a
particular goal in short range of time but yet the need for effective time
manage is still hooting around in all countries of the world, but I believe the
thirst of good time management would be quenched with taking into cognizance
the importance of prioritization.
In
the context of effectual time management, one need to be aware of the benefits
that is attached to the activity one is engaging in, as the dais of effective
time management stands on the tripartite concept of “orientation that answers
the question what?,mission that answers the question why? And duration that
answers the question when?”
A
scholar once propounded that “what you know nothing about worth not engaging in
it”, before you can engage in a particular commitment, you must have the
up-to-date knowledge of what the commitment is about, you must keep yourself abreast
of what will result from the activity you want to engage in, the premise of the
activity must be studied so as to be apprised of the distractions,
encouragements and discouragements that surrounds the activity
Prior knowledge and quenching of the thirst of the factor “what” will
help you in distinguishing between productive and less or never productive
enterprise and hence, this would help you in making a satisfactory measure of
preference.
Furthermore,
after the details that defined your activities have been unveiled, is when you
find your aim of involvement in the activity, it let you realize what amount of
activism you should put in and whether the activity warrant the loss of time that would happen in the long
run
In the
same vein, knowing the time that is needed to carry out each particular
activity is necessary as it will help in effective prioritization of activities
without the time used for one disturbing the other, because if your time should
be effectively managed, then you should be focused and determined, you must not
be an activity greed as it has been revealed that indulgence in too much
activity reduces the power within, it brings perplexity and instability, hence
nothing would be achieved, which means for you to have a time well managed, you
need a good sense of prioritization
